A COMMUNITY PROJECT

The village has experienced a “renaissance”—a rebirth of community spirit and vitality from an effort spearheaded by Isabella and her friend, Maria Stella Bianchini. Their dream inspired the residents to form a civic organization called “Castelmuzio Borgo Salotto” to improve local life for its citizens and to make their town a warm, welcoming place for foreign visitors. Beautification projects have included transforming the stunning belvedere into an open-air living room (salotto) with chairs, tables, and chaise lounges. Relax in this “outdoor salon”, enjoy a cool drink or snack, and use the free Wi-Fi hotspot to stay in touch with family, friends, or associates while gazing at the most stunning Tuscan view you can imagine. During the summer, be sure to check the calendar of events—The Borgo Salotto offers a full schedule of concerts, exhibitions, lectures, cooking events, and more, all for your enjoyment and the enrichment of their community.

This area is yet another one of the most photographed in all of Italy, both for the uniqueness of the landscape and for the presence of historical and architectural buildings. In summer months, you will find vast sunflower fields and in the spring there are bright green wheat fields scattered with red poppies. Vineyards dominate the landscape around Montalcino, famous for the excellent Brunello di Montalcino wine.

Everywhere you find medieval villages, farms, churches and fortified castles, which represent the history and the architecture of man.

When Isabella moved to the area from Milan over 25 years ago, she fell in love with Castelmuzio, it’s natural beauty, landscape and special charm. Over time it became her passion to share the magic of a truly authentic Tuscan lifestyle experience with her guests. The beautiful village of Castelmuzio is now the prime location for three of the family’s properties. This quaint village is a medieval Tuscan gem — off the beaten path, and yet close to everything in iconic Tuscany.

LIVE AMONGST THE LOCALS

You’ll love the “feel” of this village—its ancient walls and tower, the original stone arch at its portal, its ancient churches and museum. There is real history here—Etruscans, Romans, pilgrims going to Rome—to be discovered during your stay. But the most beautiful feeling of all is becoming part of its history yourself, living as part of this Tuscan community. RESTAURANTS AND SHOPPING

Although you will find very little English spoken here, you will find enormous Italian charm as you rub shoulders with the local people at the Coop grocery store, at the friendly coffee bar and restaurant in the main piazza, at a church service in the center of the village, or at the playground where parents and “nonni” bring their children for fun and fresh air.
